The eyes are the "windows to the soul," the focal point of your face, and the first place to show signs of aging. The lids’ function in life is to protect the eyes. There is no one better to care for and perform qualified surgery on the lids than an oculoplastics-trained ophthalmologist. The specialty of Oculoplastics is an art that combines the aesthetic prowess of facial plastic surgery with the meticulous detailed microsurgical techniques of ophthalmology.
There is far more anatomy to be reckoned with in the eyelids than skin, muscle and fat. There are many structures involved in the production and drainage of tears as well as tendons and support tissues that affect the eyelid shape, contour, and ability to protect the eyes. Over excision of fat, skin, muscle, or damage to the lid structures can lead to devastating consequences, not only for the appearance of the eyes, but for their health as well!

Whether you want to reduce wrinkles, fill in a groove, plump up your lips, or bring back some youthful fullness to your face, injectables are often the treatment of choice! Generally, there is no downtime associated with them, and the results are seen within a couple weeks of injection. Depending on what is being injected, the results can last from months to years.
For wrinkle reduction (of those wrinkles made worse with contraction of muscles), the botulinum toxins work best. Depending on the muscles being targeted, Botox, Xeomin or Dysport may be the best choice.
For filling in a groove (like those parenthesis between your nose and outer corners of the lips, and the marionette lines between the outer corners of the lips and chin) or plumping up your lips, the fillers work best. Most popular are the hyaluronic acid fillers like Restylane, Juvederm and Perlane. Others include Radiesse. Permanent fillers are also available.
For bringing back a youthful fullness to your face, the volumizers are what you want! The most popular (understandably when you see what it can do!) is Sculptra. Another is Belotero.
Newer injectables are being considered by the FDA, and will be available here if they are found to be superior.
The number of fat cells we have reaches its maximum by 12 years of age. After that, the fat cells do not reproduce (unless you have lipomas); the individual fat cells just get bigger or smaller depending on your diet and exercise. Therefore, after 12 years of age, when you destroy or remove fat cells, you permanently reduce your fat….forever!!
There are many ways you can temporarily reduce the fat, by making the fat cells get smaller (but not killing them).
When you (permanently) kill the fat cells, it means that even if you gain weight, you will still have a better contour in the treated areas than if you had never had the treatment. There are 3 main ways in which one can permanently reduce fat: mechanically remove the fat (eg surgical excision or liposuction), thermally kill the fat (eg CoolSculpting), or chemically kill the fat (eg. injections of mesolipotherapy solution).
Procedures that use laser, sonic waves and even surgery to remove fat can actually destroy other tissue in the process by burning, shattering or extracting non-fat cells. This requires downtime for your body to heal. Totally uncool. Fortunately, CoolSculpting doesn’t burn, shatter or extract any cells. Developed by Harvard scientists/doctors, our unique, FDA-cleared, patented procedure uses a targeted cooling process that kills the fat cells underneath the skin, literally freezing them to the point of elimination. Only fat cells are frozen. Your healthy skin cells remain, well, healthy. No knives. No suction hoses. No needles. No scars. Once crystallized, the fat cells die and are naturally eliminated from your body. In a few months…Boom! Say hello to a new you!!!
Mesolipotherapy involves the injection (with tiny ½ inch-long needles) of 2 chemicals into the fat of your skin which selectively kill fat cells and leave other cells unharmed! Those 2 chemicals are natural to the body (phosphatidyl choline and deoxycholate), and are thus not able to be patented or "FDA-approved." The procedure has been in use in Paris, France since 1952, and used world-wide for decades. As with the CoolSculpting procedure, the dead fat cells are eliminated naturally from the body. The final results are seen 2-4 months after injection, and there is often significant skin-tightening associated with the fat reduction.

No matter what you do to rejuvenate or improve your face—Botox, fillers, volumizers, laser treatments, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, surgeries—you are going to get better results, heal nicer and faster, have less risk for complications from that procedure, and have longer-lasting results IF your skin is healthier prior to that treatment. It just so happens that healthier skin is also prettier skin! (Bonus!)
When we are young, the dermis of our skin is thick and contains lots of collagen and elastin, and the epidermis is thin with very little "keratinization" (a waxy surface). New skin cells are produced at the deep layers of the dermis. The epidermis is comprised of nearly-dead cells. Young skin is pink, due to vessels in the thick dermis being near the surface (due to thin epidermis) and naturally moisturized from those vessels.
As we age, the dermis gets thin and the epidermis gets thick and keratinized, lax and wrinkled. We lose the pink glow. The FDA has made it illegal to sell any over-the-counter skincare product that goes deeper than the epidermis. As a result, you cannot get any long-lasting effectiveness from using over-the-counter products on your skin. The only way you can truly revitalize your skin to be healthier (with a thicker dermis and thinner epidermis)is to use "medical-grade" skincare products that work at a cellular level in the deep dermis, available only at physician’s offices.
The staff of All About Aesthetics has had extensive training regarding skincare products and procedures. We offer only products that have scientific proof of making skin healthier and more youth-like. Some of our product lines include Obagi, iSClinical, Revision Skincare, and Glytone.
We are also passionate about healthy make-up and sunscreen choices, which is why we offer Jane Iredale make-up.
We offer many treatments that increase collagen, encourage evenness of skintone, remove unwanted hair and veins, stimulate scalp hair growth, reduce acne and scars, shrink large pores, rid you of wrinkles and lax skin. Those treatments include various lasers (Nd:YAG for laser hair and vein removal, Alexandrite for skin spot removal, Lumenis Total FX fractional CO2 to resurface the skin, reduce scars, and literally give you younger skin with little downtime), chemical peels, facials, microdermabrasions, and surgeries.
